In ‘23 when I took up position of Club PRO I was asked how I intended to deal with the LGFA in our club. The question intrigued me as I don’t have a footballing background and I was used of martial arts where it was not unusual to have your ass kicked by a woman. What I did find in football was that no female ever wanted anything other than “equalness” - not equality - word was never mentioned - but just to be treated the same and taken as seriously as their male colleagues and nothing more. As a male, what I take for granted is not the same experience for a female. As males we have to stop feeling threatened by the strong women who stand up for their teams or groups etc. We compliment each other and working together we can achieve so much. So on this International Women’s day I thank all the ladies in Knockmore GAA & LGFA who make our club and teams enjoyable and successful. The work you do cannot be quantified. Last year we adapted the “One Club - Stronger Together” mantra. Let’s not forget that because it is true. So thank you to our mothers, sisters, daughters, partners and wives for adding to the joy of our existence. Enjoy the day.
